How it starts
I began exploring Sri Lanka when I was just 18 years old — mostly by bus or riding my scooter through the countryside. Now, over a decade later at 30, I’ve traveled to nearly every corner of this island. Despite never traveling outside the country, I’ve built a deep, personal connection to every region of Sri Lanka — from sacred temples and misty mountains to quiet beaches and bustling towns.
Three years ago, I made a big life change: I left my job in finance and joined the tourism industry full-time. Since then, I’ve connected with over 3,000 local drivers and tour providers across the country. But I also saw the challenges they face. Many rely on taxi apps that charge high commissions. Others lose out when big booking platforms take a large portion of the payment, sometimes leaving the actual service providers with less than 50%.
That’s when I realized something important: most travel blogs about Sri Lanka are written by foreigners. While they offer useful tips, I felt there was something missing — the true local perspective.
